If you are planning for a seclusion, first of all, blessings for your ‘God Alone’ time.
Here are some thoughts that I would like to share with you about this rewarding practice.
This is from Kamala Silva (Paramhansa Yogananda’s advanced women disciple)’s book ‘The Flawless mirror’. She writes in one of the chapters
“There were instances when I felt completely within the still, infinite place of being where God’s Presence Alone exists. Instead of a solution to my problem, I realized that this was the answer, the solution. Not by changing circumstances or problems but by God’s very Presence.
Nothing could disturb that Peace which lasted long enough each time to bring changes with myself. Often ‘answered prayers’ comes in this manner. Problems are not always changed; we are.”
To bathe yourself in that stillness and peace here are some suggestions.
It is a wonderful time for developing your relationship with Father, Mother, Friend, Beloved, God.
Introspect on the first four connections on your personal life and find their high points that appeal to you. How did or how can any of those relationships blossom? See God in that relationship with you. Choose the one theme that you can relate to easily at this point in time and that which inspires you and begin your relationship exploration journey.
(12:8) Immerse your consciousness in Me alone; direct all your discrimination toward finding Me: Beyond any doubt, then, you shall come to Me.
and this is easily developed with the above kind of relationship to start with. Why would you immerse your consciousness in Him? – To find yourselves anew in that same divine state.
Imagine the newly wedded couple. Isn’t they always thinking of their beloved?
A mother would know, how much she would think of her child even when she is not around. That’s how relationship work.
It is easier to think of Him or to immerse in Him, if the relationship ‘trick’ works for you.
Try to exert your will to concentrate – ‘If your mind wanders, bring it back’. I am finding that this is the one that grades our practices or even people as mediocre or best.
Try not to sleep or rest on your back during the meditation. This might be a temptation. I fell for it many times. I would say that I will meditate lying down but subconscious generally wins! Tell them that you will give them their due ‘no more’ or at least after doing more 🙂
Electrons jump to their next orbital by an extra amount of energy, the rockets defy the gravity by an escape velocity. To pierce the veil of Maya, we need to put a relaxed, determined and concentrated effort and with His grace, we will be on a new level.
Sit for a long time after meditation. Send prayers. Gaze into Masters’ eyes.
Also try to build a bridge between your activities. You can clean your place or do dishes that require less of your outward focus. As with most of our practices, try to keep your focus at the point between the eyebrows during this time.
Get fresh air / Sunshine, have some lemon with honey / Orange juice and relish every drop of them. Do some stretching exercises during the relaxing time.Listen to Master/Swami’s music or talks and also talk to them in your heart.
Tense with will, Relax and feel! This applies to Energisation as well as God realisation.
If this is too much for this time, take some and chew others later or as Master used to say, “Bite off more than you can chew and then chew it.”
Above all, forego your expectations on the outcomes of the seclusion and pray:
I accept whatever comes, Lord,
as coming from Thy hands.
I know that it comes in blessing,
for I am Thine,
as Thou art ever mine.
